Request for Inspections

The DPW&T could sure use a few more Roadway Advisory TeamS ("RATS"). We view the citizens of St. Mary’s County as a welcome extension of the Department. Your collective vision is often responsible for recognizing many things our crews have yet to discover, have just happened or that may have been inadvertently overlooked. Early recognition of maintenance related issues is extremely important to us--especially when the assessment of priority and timely response involves the safety of citizens. To help us and for your convenience, we have provided on-line Maintenance and Inspection Request Forms. Please also feel free to contact us on other matters as described in the paragraphs below:

Bond Reduction & Release

For developer related subdivision and site work, contact the Manager of Construction and Inspections at (301) 475-4200.

Construction

For approval of minor construction within the County right-of-way, contact the Manager of County Highways at (301) 475-4200 or download a copy of our Construction Permit Application Form, complete and submit to this Department.

Drainage

For drainage, grading or evaluation of "flood" related issues associated with the County-maintained roadways and drainage-ways, contact the Manager of County Highways at (301) 475-4200.

Entrance Permits

For inspection of a multiple or single driveway entrance, contact the Manager of County Highways at (301) 475-4200.

Erosion & Sediment Control

For erosion and sediment control matters, contact the Soil Conservation District at (301) 475-8402.

Final Inspections

For developer-related subdivision and site work with respect to approval of road construction, paving operations and use/occupancy contact the Manager of Construction and Inspections at (301) 475-4200 or fill out our Inspection Request Form.

Mosquito Control

For citizen service requests, public nuisance complaints, mapping of mosquito breeding areas and questions regarding the Program, contact the Maryland Department of Agriculture Mosquito Control Section at (301) 373-4264 ext. 65.

Overlot Grading

For lot grading and drainage related concerns during the construction of all buildings and dwelling units, please contact the Department of Permits and Inspections at (301) 475-4670.

Road Maintenance

For maintenance requests, reporting of damaged pavement, potholes, storm debris and roadway safety concerns, contact the Manager of County Highways at (301) 475-4200.

State Highways

For maintenance, construction or safety related issues, contact the Resident Maintenance Engineer for District 5 in Leonardtown at (301) 475-8035.

Stormwater Management

For review of existing storm-water management facilities, or as-builts of new facilities, contact the Deputy Director at (301) 475-4200. For construction related questions, contact the Department of Permits and Inspections at (301) 475-4670.
