The Friends of the St. Clement's Island and Piney Point Museums

Mission Statement

The Friends of the St. Clement's Island & Piney Point Museums raise funds in order to support historical interpretation, education programs, and special needs of the sites managed by the Museum Division of St. Mary's County Department of Recreation and Parks. The Friends organization is a 501(c) 3 organization sponsoring events, assisting with acquisitions, and supporting efforts to broaden the understanding of our culture and community's heritage.

Who are the Friends?

The Friends play a vital role in financing many of the programs and activities of the St. Mary's County Museum Division. The Friends raise funds through:

  • Membership dues
  • Museum Store operations at St. Clement’s Island Museum, Piney Point Lighthouse Museum and the Old Jail Museum, as well as the online store
  • Any paid events at St. Clement's Island Museum or Piney Point Lighthouse Museum
  • Fundraisers like the Potomac Jazz & Seafood Festival
  • Private organizational donor contributions
  • Memorial gifts/bequests
  • Variety of grants

Donations & Contributions

Consider special gifts or memorial gifts that can be earmarked to a specific site, project or purchase for any of our historic sites.
