Water Taxi Hours of Operation

Water taxi service is available most days starting March 25 – October 31. The water taxi leaves the pier at the St. Clement's Island Museum at 10:00 a.m. and makes continuous trips to St. Clement's Island State Park and back until 2:00 p.m. (The Boat Captain will take a lunch break from 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.). The 2:00 p.m. departure from the museum is the last trip over to the island and the last trip back to the mainland from the island is 3:00 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE! ALWAYS call ahead (301-769-2222) to confirm water taxi operation and weather conditions. High wind, rough water, rain or storms and other extenuating circumstances will prevent the water taxi from operating.

Water Taxi Rate (Individual)

Rates are $7.00 per person, which includes children of any age. Dogs and other animals are not allowed on the water taxi unless they are an official Working Guide Dog (they ride free). The water taxi fee includes admission to the museum.

Private Chartered Tours & Rates

The Water Taxi may be chartered outside or regularly scheduled operations. Prices are based on a 20-person minimum. Groups under 20 people may charter the boat if they pay the remaining balance.

Student & Youth Group Charters

$7 per person ($140 minimum payment). This rate includes 3 hours of educational programs in the museum and on St. Clement's Island State Park. Teachers may rent the boat for additional hours at $50 per extra hour. Teachers are free. Only one chaperone for every ten students will be admitted for free. Additional chaperones will be charged the full program fee. Student charters are subsidized by St. Mary’s County Government.

Adult Group Charters

$10.00 per person ($200.00 minimum payment). This rate includes 2 hours of time on St. Clement's Island. A guide is provided by request for an additional $25.00. Group leaders may rent the boat for additional hours at $50.00 per extra hour. Prepayment must be paid in full. There is a non-refundable processing fee of $25.00.

PLEASE NOTE: Water Taxi transportation to St. Clement’s Island State Park is subject to cancellation due to unsafe water/weather conditions or other extenuating circumstances. Therefore, please call the museum the day you intend to visit for current information. If you decide to cancel your charter, you must cancel with at least 24 hours advanced notice for a refund.

Blackistone Lighthouse Tours on St. Clement’s Island State Park

The St. Clement's Hundred provides volunteers for guided tours of the lighthouse, normally on weekends and special events during the warmer months. Call St. Clement's Island Museum for an updated lighthouse tours schedule at 301-769-2222. There is no fee for guided tours, but donations are gratefully accepted and are used for lighthouse maintenance expenses.
